Is that really me?

Hi guys

It's good to know people still check out this site and post our link on the irc channels (it saves us a job).

I have noticed that alot of people think that I am CRW, although I would like to take credit for all the work he has done; it is infact, not me :)

Lord Jesus rulez :) keep up the good work, sorry I aint been around to cheat with you but I am too busy lately.

This is time for me to go back into hibernation. But I would like to end my post by paying my respects to the Duati league and thanking SportChick in all her benevolence; for the work she has done in passing it over unto the other side.

Gasp!

People thought that YOU were CRW? Where would they get an idea like that? Hahahaha... Well, it's been humorous to say the least to see phrases like "bye molez" or "molez cheater" in my ban messages.

Anyway, it's been fun cheating with you, Molez. Good luck with everything and take care of yourself. We look forward to your return from hibernation some day :) Until then, take it easy!

You can find instructions in the README files in the top level directory of the extracted source. Here's an excerpt from one for Mac:

BZFlag may be built either using the same instructions as those for
Unix following ./autogen.sh && ./configure && make, or using the XCode
project in the top-level directory to end up with a double-clickable
BZFlag.app build.

You can also enter the commands in a terminal one at a time (hit ENTER on your keyboard after each command):

./autogen.sh

./configure

make

su

[you will be prompted for root password]

make install

I don't use Mac, so please keep that in mind and bear with me. Basically, you will open a terminal windows (in the top level bzflag directory of the extracted source).

The Mac README also mentions XCODE. I found a related web site that may be useful:

http://www.mactech.com/articles/mactech/Vol.20/20.06/BZFlag/index.html

If the above address isn't displayed entirely, you can find it by using your favorite search engine and searching for:

compile bzflag MAC
*or*
xcode bzflag mac

I recommend first testing out the above with a "clean client" (one that hasn't been modified) so that you can see how the process works, and you will know what to expect.

I hope this helps.

...actually, don't hold me to the "make install" part of installing for Mac. Be sure to look at README and README.MacOSX

I would have to see an example of what you are talking about (such as a screenshot). It sounds like you're talking about team players speaking with each other. As you know, you use "n" to talk to all. Use "m" to talk to team players, and use "z" to send messages to administrators.

You can also use the IRC "/me" command. For example, let's say that you have joined a server with the callsign axl rose. You can press "n" (or "m" for team, or "z" for admins), and type "/me wants everyone to eat shit.", the message "axl rose wants everyone to eat shit." will be displayed.

You can also use the /say command. Most servers don't allow users that privilege. Some servers allow registered users (and registered only) to use the /say command. For example, you -- as axl rose, for example -- can press "n" then type "/say Welcome to BZFlag!", and the message will be displayed as "SERVER: Welcome to BZFlag! (axl rose)"

Use "/part" to leave a message as you leave. For example, you can press "n" and then type "/part Bye all!" You will leave the server, and the message will be displayed "Bye all!" when you leave.

You can use the /report command to leave *logged* messages for the owners/admins of the servers. You can leave messages when no one else is around. For example, you can press "n" then type "/report This server sucks." That will leave a message for owners/admins to read whenever they are around.

I hope this helps :)

Here's a spamming tip for you (some servers may kick you for it):

Let's say that you have sent a message to everyone (e.g., by press "n" first) such as:

/me wants everyone to eat shit.

Press "n" (or "m"' for team or "z" for the admin channel), then use your up-arrow on the keyboard to scroll through previous messages that you have sent. After you find the message that you would like to repeat, simply press ENTER on your keyboard. You can do that repeatedly to send the same message over and over again without having to type it out each time.

Enjoy >:)
